Winter 2019 Releases

Winter 2019 Releases

Work, work, work.  Fall has flown by, we’ve been canning like crazy, knocking one beer after another off the list.  We’ve canned 11 different beers to date, with more to come.  We hope you’ve been enjoying not only the beer in the can but the fabulous artwork as well.  Mary Binsted is knocking it out of the park with her designs and illustrations.

Some of our fall/winter seasonals have nearly come and gone.   NIGHTSHADE Black IPA is on its last keg with some ‘old school’ bombers remaining, and LOG SPLITTER Smoked Porter has run out on tap with some 4-pack cans remaining.  If you like these dark beers, make sure to get your hands on some before they run out.

November Releases

Another favourite seasonal is back this Friday, FIREBEAN Rye Coffee Porter (in cans and on tap).  This beer features one of our favourite local coffee roasters, Firebean Coffee, whose pedal-powered, wood fired coffee is da’ bomb.  We’ll also be selling 4 oz packs of Firebean coffee in the shop for your extra caffeination needs and be sure to check him out at the 12 Days of Christmas Market.

Next week we’ll be releasing a brand-new, draught-only beer, TIME BANDIT Black Lager.  This is the second lager recipe we’ve ever brewed, thanks this time to one of our brewers, Kevin, who was inspired after tasting many a Schwarzbier on a road trip last summer through Alberta and British Columbia.  This is Kevin’s first recipe and we think he nailed it!

Also next week, TRUCKSTOP POETRY Hazy IPA will be back on tap and in 4-pack cans.  At 6.3% this brew is smooth and juicy with tropical and exotic hop notes from the Galaxy and Cashmere hops.

DECEMBER RELEASES

Our annual release of GUILT TRIP Barleywine is due before Christmas. This 2020 vintage will have limited availability on tap as well as in single cans to go.  Don’t be frightened by the can, you can still cellar this baby if you want to.  Enjoyed fresh this big 9% beer is bursting with citrus and tropical hop aroma and flavour as well as malt flavours of toffee and dark fruit.  It’s also a great cellar beer as the complex malt flavours change over time. It’s always a treat to taste different years side by side.  Maybe it could be your new Christmas tradition?

SURFER ROSA Gose will be repping as our sour beer starting in December.  It will be a nice, light, thirst quencher to refresh you among all the strong, heavy beers typical of this time of year.  We're brewing it starting tomorrow, so find it in cans and on tap in a few weeks.

And last but not least, we have a brand new beer also coming out in a few weeks and it's pretty much as nerdy as they come.  DIVINE CAFFEINATION, is a variation on our Divine Intervention Belgian-style Tripel, this time with the addition of, you guessed it, coffee.  However, this is not just any coffee, it is our barrel-aged coffee collaboration with Firebean Coffee Roasters. A few months ago we took green Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee beans and aged them in a freshly dumped bourbon barrel that had previously held Divine Intervention. After about 3 months, the beans will be lightly roasted and added back into the beer.  Test batches of the coffee already showcase caramel, sweet berry and bourbon notes.  The beer will be a lighter version of Divine Intervention at 8.5%, and note it is not actually barrel aged (just the coffee is).  We are looking forwad to having this fun experiemental beer available on draught and in cans. The barrel-aged coffee will also be available on its own.  Look for it again at the 12 Days of Christmas Market.

There is a lot to look forward to leading up to the end of the year!  Now let's hope for some more snow and colder weather to enjoy the holidays.
