What We've Been Up To

What We've Been Up To

We've only just recovered from the 23rd Annual Haines Beer Fest. We had a great time, serving our first two beers to the steady line up of tasters. This year's festival sold out at 1,500 tickets and the weather was pretty outstanding as well. The website is already advertising dates for the 2016 Haines Beer Fest (May 26-27, 2016 - tickets go on sale Feb 1, 2016) so add that to your calendars.

We've been open now officially for three weekends (Friday and Saturdays) with our first four beers available for growler fills (High Noon Hef, Pingo Pale Ale, Weekend Warrior IPA, and Sweater Weather Stout). The feedback has been great!

We were even able to get a few kegs out to Woodcutters Blanket downtown so that people could enjoy our beer on tap, while it lasted! Hopefully we'll be able to get our beer out to a few places in the future, so thanks all for being patient as we figure things out.

But reflecting so far on how things have gone, it's been surprisingly smooth sailing since the opening of the brewery.  We are amazed at how after months and months of working to get the brewery off the ground, we just settled right into the rythms of actually brewing, transferring, kegging and selling the beer.

It's been a big step up from our homebrewing setup so we were expecting a few growing pains. But the long days have been getting shorter as we find efficiencies, and the large messes have been getting smaller as we get the right parts and systems down. We seem to be getting the hang of it finally and have been happy with how well the beers have been turning out. Hopefully those of you who have tried them, agree!

We've brewed 6 batches now, with another one on the way (Black IPA anyone?). Not to mention we have some spruce tips in line for a brew as well. We're super excited for what else is to come.
